Unveiling the Innovative Intelligent System by Rosa Dávila

The Cabildo of Tenerife intends to introduce an intelligent traffic management system on the island’s motorways in the upcoming years that measures road congestion and provides drivers with alternative routes.

This was conveyed to EFE by the institution’s president, Rosa Dávila, who elaborated that this initiative, currently in development, will facilitate “significant advancements” in “the ensuing years” concerning mobility in Tenerife due to its utilisation of “available technologies and artificial intelligence.”

While not going into extensive detail about the proposal, Rosa Dávila clarified that access to the motorways would be controlled through barrier and traffic light management, allowing this system to assess the point at which the road will become congested and to search for alternatives for users.

EMERGENCY TOW TRUCKS

In relation to road management, the president of the Tenerife Cabildo has also announced that specifications are ready for the emergency tow truck service, which will be contracted for the rapid removal of vehicles from the roads – a service for which she assures “positive” tests have been carried out.

Rosa Dávila has indicated that this initiative, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Traffic and the Civil Guard, is expected to be operational before 2025.

The island president has outlined how this service will function: Once the report is issued, the emergency tow truck will be able to remove and relocate the vehicle to designated locations, provided by the island’s institution, where private insurance tow trucks can attend to each driver.
