The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, through its Department of Works and Infrastructure, announces various traffic issues that will commence from tomorrow, Wednesday, 27 November, on 25 de Julio Avenue. This will involve the closure of the section between Méndez Núñez Street and Pi y Margall Street, heading towards Plaza de Los Patos, due to the ongoing works at the new Plaza del Orche, detailed under the project titled “Conditioning of the free space between Méndez Núñez, Robayna, and Rambla 25 de Julio Streets.”
The Mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, emphasises “the dedication that is being invested to complete this project within the set timelines, with the aim of finishing before the upcoming Carnival celebrations.” He also mentions that “there is a concerted effort to work meticulously and swiftly to ensure that this project meets its deadline, particularly as it is now essential to gather materials to expedite the work, which necessitates adjustments to the traffic in the vicinity of the square.”
Infrastructure Councillor, Javier Rivero, states that “vehicles wishing to access 25 de Julio Avenue will need to enter from Méndez Núñez Street, either via Pi y Margall or Viera and Clavijo Streets,” and he further clarifies that “due to this operation, it is required to arrange and occupy the entire section of the Rambla between Pérez de Rozas and Robayna, which constitutes the work area itself by enclosing the site.”
Additionally, the Works and Infrastructures department specifies that throughout the construction zone, vehicles utilised for emergency and healthcare services will always be permitted access. They will also notify public transport services, including buses and taxis, of any traffic detours to reduce disruption to their regular operations. It is highlighted that the complete closure of 25 de Julio Avenue will be limited to the minimum time absolutely necessary to avoid congesting surrounding roads, particularly given the approach of the Christmas holidays.
In conclusion, the City Council advises everyone to pay close attention to the area, especially to the vertical signage and the directions provided by authorities and security personnel. They also express apologies for any inconvenience this situation may cause and appreciate the public’s understanding.
