SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 28 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
TLP Tenerife, in partnership with the Cabildo, has inaugurated the inaugural edition of the TLP Indie Awards, which aim to celebrate creativity, innovation, and talent within the independent video game industry.
This competition, scheduled to take place during the July event, is set to be a premier accolade in this domain, surpassing established awards such as the Independent Games Festival (IGF) in San Francisco, which is the foremost event for independent developers in the USA.
The inaugural TLP Indie Awards will occur from the 15th to the 20th of July, 2025, at the Tenerife Fairgrounds. This contest will attract video game developers from across the nation and will award a prize of 15,000 euros to the winner in the best indie video game category. Additionally, the TLP Indie Awards will introduce several other categories, with the rules and details to be disclosed in the forthcoming months.
With the launch of this new contest, the president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, has underscored the island’s commitment to staying at the forefront of emerging sectors that extend beyond mere entertainment: “Through the TLP Indie Awards, Tenerife showcases its dedication to being at the forefront of sectors that are not just hobbies, but genuine hubs for training and the development of vital skills for contemporary industries. This event reinforces our support for young talent and provides a unique platform where their passions can evolve into training and professional opportunities.”
TLP Tenerife ranks as one of the most significant technological and entertainment events in Spain, annually drawing thousands of enthusiasts of video games, Asian culture, and cosplay. The 2025 edition will also feature the TLP Innova space, hosting talks, workshops, and conferences aimed at the professional sector.
A new addition for next year will be a conference on video game and technology journalism, featuring esteemed professionals in communication, technology, and audiovisual culture. A gathering will further take place with leading gaming hardware manufacturers and key figures from the entertainment sector.
Rosa Dávila accentuated the influence of TLP Tenerife on the economic and cultural development of the island: “Our aim is for events like TLP Tenerife to enhance Tenerife’s offerings, generating a positive influence and demonstrating our readiness to host meetings of international importance. This event not only fosters economic progress but also positions the island as a leader in innovation and technology, nurturing the talent and professional training of future generations.”
