SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 19 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
This Thursday, two cayucos arrived at the port of Los Cristianos, situated on the island of Tenerife, carrying nearly 150 migrants, as reported by sources from Maritime Rescue to Europa Press.
The first vessel, which had 64 migrants aboard, including 12 minors, was detected in close proximity to the shore by the ship ‘Bencomo Express’. After alerting authorities, the Salvamar Alpheratz was dispatched to assist and escorted the cayuco to the port.
Upon arrival, three individuals required referral to health facilities due to varying medical conditions, following initial assistance from SUC, Primary Care, and Red Cross personnel.
Another cayuco is anticipated to dock at approximately 2:00 p.m., carrying around 80 migrants. This vessel has been supported by the Salvamar Alpheratz, which was deployed after receiving a distress call from the boat approximately 10 miles from Punta Rasca, indicating that the engine was malfunctioning.
