Tenerife: The Emerging Technology and Innovation Hub

The Cabildo, in collaboration with the Tenerife Science and Technology Park (PCTT), is organising the second edition of the Intech Tenerife Hub. This event will cover topics of significant importance to organisations concerning technology and innovation, particularly focusing on the creative industry, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

The gathering is set to attract over 350 national and international organisations and specialists, taking place this Friday and Saturday at the Iberostar Heritage Grand Mencey hotel in Santa Cruz. This was detailed yesterday by the island’s Minister for Innovation, Research, and Development, Juan José Martínez; PCTT manager, Olga Martín; Omnia group representative, Carlos Rodríguez; and Orlando Bello from Binary Systems.

This represents the largest assembly of technology firms in the Canary Islands, uniting local enterprises with global technology leaders, with the goal of enhancing local innovation to positively influence Tenerife’s GDP, ultimately creating a robust innovative business ecosystem.

Juan José Martínez remarked, “Hub Intech exemplifies successful public-private collaboration,” emphasising that the initiative features “a very appealing agenda and top-tier speakers.” He further noted that “Hub Intech provides a unique platform to showcase Tenerife’s potential as a European technology centre with competitive tax rates, talent, and a private sector aligned with emerging trends, alongside public support and infrastructure.”

Olga Martín added that there will be “a comprehensive programme aimed at highlighting Tenerife’s role as a technological hub from both public and private perspectives,” and provided details about the planned activities.

Orlando Bello commented that with this initiative, “Tenerife is where the gap between technology creators and manufacturers and those who integrate and apply these technologies within society is bridged.” Carlos Rodríguez further contributed that “our aim was to involve leading figures in the field of artificial intelligence from Spain,” and he stressed that Tenerife “offers more than just sun and tourism; it possesses technology and excellent infrastructure and communications.”

The conference will feature two significant events: Omnia Business Day and Binary Partner Connect, hosted by Omnia Infosys and Binary Systems. The former aims to serve as a platform to explore how the Canary Islands can leverage technology for a prosperous future, while Binary Partner Connect stands as the most significant professional technology event in the Canary Islands, bringing together key global technology manufacturers with local professionals.
