Tenerife Man Caught Attempting to Travel to Ireland with Forged Passport

Officers from the National Police have apprehended a man of Albanian descent for an alleged offence of document forgery at Tenerife South Airport, where he attempted to board a flight using a counterfeit Czech passport.

The individual arrived at the airport from Albania, having first made a land stopover in Serbia, and subsequently utilised various forms of public transport to reach Barcelona. From there, he chose to travel by air to Tenerife, intending to reach Ireland as his ultimate destination.

The man took advantage of the conclusion of the summer season, alongside the considerable number of individuals returning to their home countries after the holidays, to try and accomplish his objective.

For these reasons, the National Police officers proceeded to detain him, and the necessary procedures were initiated at police stations, including the preparation of an administrative file for expulsion, according to reports from the National Police.

The officers also discovered that the ticket had been obtained abroad by a third party, leading them to continue their investigation to identify the individuals involved in facilitating this illicit human trafficking.
