SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 25 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Governing Council of Tenerife Island approved the proposal this Wednesday to award the title of ‘Illustrious Son of Tenerife’ to footballers Pedri and Ayoze in recognition of their triumph in the European Championship last summer.
In a press conference, the president recognised the Barcelona and Villarreal players, respectively, as “exemplary figures” for the youth and champions of “the best” principles of football.
He also reminisced about how “memorable” it was for both athletes to celebrate the victory on the pitch while draped in the Canary Islands flag.
