SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 12 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo of Tenerife has announced the XIII Tenerife Fashion National Photography Competition under the theme ‘Fashion and Crafts’, with the submission period having commenced on 15 October and set to close on 25 April 2025.
Individuals residing in Spain who are 18 years of age or older at the time of application may participate, encompassing both amateur and professional photographers, with the condition that they have not previously secured the first prize in earlier editions of this competition.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Employment and Education, Efraín Medina, during a press conference held today (Tuesday) in the Noble room of the Corporation, alongside Natanael Padrón, the director of Tenerife Moda.
Efraín Medina emphasised that it is crucial to continue “fostering and establishing synergies within the fashion and photography sectors, as these areas contribute to economic growth and job creation.”
In line with this, the councillor noted the significance that the competition has gained, which this time offers a total of €7,500 in prizes, and its establishment that “is evidenced by the triumph of earlier winners whose work is featured in prestigious fashion magazines both nationally and internationally.”
Natanael Padrón remarked on the great reception this competition has received, allowing professionals from across the country to participate. “The contest comprises three prizes. The winning photograph will earn a prize of €3,500 and a representative trophy, while the runners-up will receive €2,500 and €1,500 respectively, alongside their own trophies. Each participant may submit a minimum of one photograph and a maximum of ten, all adhering to the theme of the competition: fashion and craftsmanship,” explained Padrón.
The jury will consider various factors when assessing the submitted works, including the consistency between the narrative, the argument, and the message of the photograph in relation to the theme; creativity and originality in the visual approach; and the application of technical tools, among others.
Submissions must be delivered to the offices of the Empresa Insular de Artesanía in La Orotava or sent via standard mail. Works must be original and unpublished, can be in black and white or colour, and must be accompanied by a title, description, and a pseudonym. The rules for participation are published on the Insular Crafts Company website (www.artenerife.com).
In the previous edition, which focused on Fashion and Makeup, the winner was Juan Pedro León from Gran Canaria with his photograph titled “Nauj Pei”, while Manuel González from La Gomera (Vigonarte) secured the second prize with the photograph named “Le Revé (The Dream)”. The third prize was also awarded to Juan Pedro León.
