Tenerife Dispatches 28 Troops and 20 Fire Pumps to Valencia This Sunday

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Nov. 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The emergency operation orchestrated by the Cabildo de Tenerife comprises a contingent of 28 personnel and 20 motor pumps, along with state-of-the-art technology for rescue missions and water management in the affected regions, is set to depart this Sunday from Tenerife North Airport en route to Valencia.

According to the Corporation, an Army Airbus specifically designated for the task will take off from the island to bolster rescue and relief efforts in the flood-stricken areas of the Valencian Community.

In response to a request for assistance from the Generalitat Valenciana, the deployment has been coordinated with the General Directorate of Emergencies of the Canary Islands Government and all seven island councils.

This operation will include specialists (Tenerife Firefighters and Brifor) and advanced equipment to aid in emergency activities within the affected zones.

The designated resources encompass twenty motor pumps from the Tenerife Fire Consortium, BRIFOR, the Tenerife Environmental Complex, and La Laguna Civil Protection, intended for drainage tasks in areas prone to water accumulation, such as garages, basements, and sewers.

The team comprises eight firefighters, divided into two squads of four, along with a command unit responsible for oversight and operational coordination.

Furthermore, an underwater rescue team, composed of four members, will assist in recovering submerged individuals or vehicles and offering help in areas of stagnant water.

The president of the Tenerife Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, remarked that “the hearts of all Tenerife residents are heavy with sorrow over this tragedy.”

“From the very first day, we have made ourselves available to support the families in distress, and tomorrow we will deploy with an emergency team ready to assist in any way required. The spirit of Tenerife is with all those impacted, and we believe that, despite the distance, our presence will be a source of aid and solace for the affected families,” she added.

The operation will also feature a specialised drone team consisting of four personnel, tasked with conducting search and rescue missions in hard-to-reach locations, performing night-time surveillance, and capturing images for the assessment of intervention areas.
