SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 18 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Tenerife Island Council, via its Mobility department, will be relocating the sixth module of the Grand Pedestrian Ring of Padre Anchieta tomorrow, Thursday. This undertaking will occur overnight from 10:00 p.m. on Thursday until 2:00 a.m. on Friday.
The operations will impact traffic flow, yet there will be no interruptions along the designated route.
The vehicle designated for transporting the module will depart from the Eastern Dock in the Port of Santa Cruz and will proceed along the Litoral Highway, Avenida Tres de Mayo, the Juan Amigó de Lara tunnel, the TF-5 Highway, occupying three lanes, before moving toward the Padre Anchieta interchange in a northerly direction.
The Council requests that motorists in the vicinity during the module’s installation exercise extreme caution and adhere to the signage and directives from the road workers.
The developments on the Grand Pedestrian Ring of Padre Anchieta entail eleven metal components, each weighing 40 tonnes, representing an investment of 8.8 million euros. The project, being executed by the company Obras Huarte Lain SA, encompasses a continuous curved beam resembling a ring with a diameter of approximately 100 metres, supported by a network of point supports, situated adjacent to the current car park of the Faculty of Biology at the University of La Laguna.
Upon completion, the eight pedestrian crossings utilised by over 20,000 individuals daily will be eliminated, thus significantly enhancing safety conditions and facilitating smoother traffic flow.
The design of the Grand Pedestrian Ring marks a significant achievement in this form of infrastructure and was honoured with the 2019 National Innovation and Design Awards, awarded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities of Spain.
