Ten-Bel Residents Demand Action Amid Ongoing Water Supply Issues

Approximately thirty residents of Ten-Bel, located in the Costa del Silencio region (Arona), convened yesterday to urge the authorities to deliver a “permanent solution” to the ongoing water supply disruptions that have plagued the community in recent weeks. The demonstration follows a water outage that occurred two days prior, during which numerous residents were left without water for over twelve hours, exacerbating the unrest in the area. “We demand transparency and the immediate implementation of a resolution,” a local resident remarked. Attendees are calling upon the Arona City Council, the Tenerife Cabildo, and the Insular Water Council to address the issue and “coordinate a remedy.”

The supply interruptions have impacted around 2,000 individuals across seven residential areas. Residents are advocating for financial investment in the upgrading of this infrastructure to ensure a vital service. They highlight that the absence of maintenance in the distribution network, managed by a private company currently undergoing liquidation, could be the principal factor behind the outages.

In certain instances, they describe, the water supply is halted in the early hours and does not resume until late afternoon, prompting them to implement emergency measures, which include the installation of five water tanks. The total cost for these tanks reaches up to 30,000 euros.
