TEA Invites Bids for Installation of 810 Solar Panels on Roof

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 30th October (EUROPA PRESS) –

Tenerife Espacio de las Artes (TEA) has announced a tender for the installation of a new self-consumption photovoltaic system on its roof, with an investment of 504,766 euros, funded by the Cabildo alongside the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, NextGenerationEU managed through the Government of the Canary Islands.

TEA will set up 810 monocrystalline solar panels, each rated at 430 W, which will produce a total power output of 348.30 kWp. This clean and renewable energy will cater to the building’s requirements, significantly lowering its carbon emissions and reliance on the traditional electricity grid.

The installation will cover an area of 1,796 square metres of the overall 6,931 square metres of the roof and has been specifically designed to fit the building’s architectural features, including its skirts and slopes. This innovative approach will maximise solar exposure and enhance energy generation efficiency.

“TEA’s photovoltaic initiative exemplifies our dedication to renewable energy and illustrates that it is feasible to balance economic development with environmental stewardship. The Cabildo will continue to back initiatives that help transform Tenerife into a more sustainable island,” stated the Minister of Culture and Museums of Tenerife, José Carlos Acha.

Interested companies have until 18th November to submit their applications. The expected duration of the work, set to commence in January 2025, is six months. Detailed information and guidelines can be found on the public sector contracting platform.

The implementation of this initiative will yield several advantages, such as a decrease in CO2 emissions, as generating its own electricity from renewable sources will help mitigate climate change effects. Additionally, self-generating energy will lower long-term energy expenses, making TEA less susceptible to fluctuations in electricity prices.
