A 31-year-old individual has suffered moderate injuries after collapsing near the Altavista shelter in Teide National Park, located within the municipality of La Orotava (Tenerife). This information has been supplied by the 1-1-2 Emergency and Security Coordination Centre of the Canary Islands.
The occurrence transpired on Tuesday afternoon at a location nearly 3,000 metres in elevation, prompting the rescue helicopter from the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) of the Canary Islands Government to be dispatched. They conducted a partial takeover of the area, allowing rescuers to reach the affected individual.
Once there, they administered initial assistance, proceeded with the rescue operation, and evacuated him by air to the helipad at La Guancha. From there, a medical ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) transported him to Hospital del Norte.
Furthermore, personnel from the Tenerife Fire Brigade Consortium, as well as members of the Immediate Emergency Response Team (ERIE) from the Spanish Red Cross, who were mobilised by the Fire Brigade Consortium, participated in the emergency response efforts.
