A total of 221 migrants aboard four vessels arrived at the island of El Hierro during the early hours of Thursday, according to sources from Maritime Rescue who informed Europa Press.
Just before midnight, the Salvamar Acrux escorted a canoe to the harbour of La Restinga, which had been located by the Sive radar, carrying 53 individuals, including five women and a child.
In addition, Guardamar Talía coordinated three other rescues, including one of a canoe that was spotted by a sailing boat 70 miles south of the island with 60 people on board, of whom ten were women and one was a child.
Furthermore, another rescue operation was conducted for a cayuco situated 45 miles southwest of the island, which contained 53 migrants – 40 men and 13 women – and a fourth was assisted after being detected by Sive nine miles from shore with 55 migrants, comprising four minors and four women.
