SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 27 September (EUROPA PRESS) –
Officers of the Civil Guard from the Icod de Los Vinos Traffic Detachment apprehended a 36-year-old man on suspicion of recklessness whilst driving, operating a vehicle without a valid driving license due to the complete loss of legally assigned points, alongside serious disobedience and assaults against law enforcement personnel.
The incident occurred while the officers were patrolling the TF-5 motorway at kilometre 36.500. They noticed a motorist overtaking stationary vehicles on the shoulder without adhering to the necessary safety distance, prompting them to intervene.
The driver disregarded the officers’ signals and fled at high speed along the TF-5 towards Icod, as reported by the Civil Guard in a statement.
Although the Civil Guard attempted to alert the driver using the sirens and lights on their official motorcycle, the individual ignored the warnings and continued to engage in perilous manoeuvres, overtaking in contravention of road safety laws.
After several requests for him to halt, he entered the urban area of Los Realejos, where his aggressive driving led him to lose control of the motorcycle and subsequently fall to the ground, after which he resisted arrest.
The individual, now under investigation, had lost the validity of his driving licence due to the total depletion of his legally assigned points. He was informed of his rights on the spot and was summoned to appear before the ongoing Investigative Court in La Orotava, to which the relevant proceedings have been forwarded.
In relation to the events being investigated, a police report has been submitted to the Investigative Court acting as the judicial guard of the La Orotava district.
