SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 17 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Civil Guard has apprehended a 41-year-old individual for multiple robberies involving force and violence in the town of La Orotava (Tenerife) whilst he was on temporary release from prison.
As reported by Le Benemérita, he faces allegations of up to five offences of burglary in residential properties and two charges of robbery with violence and intimidation in retail establishments.
In this context, the man gained entry to the interiors of properties under construction and employed the same method, breaking through doors or windows to extract wiring, aluminium, tap fittings, and other materials, with the intention of selling them at establishments that deal in such items.
THEFT IN A SUPERMARKET
Conversely, the two incidents involving violence and intimidation occurred in a supermarket open to the public, where the individual entered with his face concealed and wielding a large sickle, threatening and attempting to assault the staff.
On one occasion, the employees defended themselves with a stick, managing to drive the accused away from the scene, after which they alerted the Civil Guard, who initiated a manhunt to locate and apprehend the suspect.
The accused has a substantial criminal history, and these criminal acts instilled considerable public concern within the municipality, not only due to the volume of offences committed in a brief timeframe but also owing to the violence exhibited by the accused in certain incidents.
The detainee, along with the relevant proceedings undertaken, was brought before the La Orotava Police Court of Investigation, which ordered his immediate return to prison.
