La Laguna’s ‘Wine Month’: A Festive Celebration of Vines, Melodies, and Scenic Walks

The Lagoon once again celebrates “November, Tacoronte-Acentejo Wine Month”, an event that unites enthusiasts of wine and gastronomy, allowing them to experience a diverse cultural programme in its twenty-first year.

This initiative, collaboratively endorsed by La Laguna City Council and the Regulatory Council of the Tacoronte-Acentejo Denomination of Origin, has established itself as a key autumn occurrence for those who appreciate wine culture in the Canary Islands.

The activities cater to all demographics and encompass culinary and wine ventures, guided explorations, theatre, music, comics, and even chess, creating an environment where local wine takes centre stage.

A total of 18 wineries from the DO Tacoronte-Acentejo will participate, including Cuevas de Lino, Viña El Drago, Tierra Fundida, Cráter, and Viña Norte, all of whom promise to impress guests with their offerings.

The special month kicks off with the “La Vinal” exhibition, centred on drawing and accessible to the public, which is part of a cultural offering featuring the La Laguna Experience theatre company, led by Néstor Verona, along with opera screenings in Tenerife’s multiplex cinemas.

Moreover, the Calavera Island Festival will also be part of this occasion, alongside guided tours and strolls that encourage the discovery of La Laguna from an oenological viewpoint, complemented by the flavours of Tacoronte-Acentejo wine.

Comic enthusiasts will have a distinctive space featuring presentations by notable cartoonists like Miguel Ángel Martín and Eduardo González, who will autograph their works in an environment that highlights the fusion of graphic art and wine culture.

The highlight of this edition is set for November 28 with the celebrated “Noche en Tinto” in the Plaza de La Concepción, where attendees will have the opportunity to sample the new wine from the 2024 harvest, an experience eagerly awaited by many and representing the culmination of the programme.

Supported by cultural institutions and organisations such as GMR Volcanic Experience, Librería Lemus, Ciudades a Pie, Fundación México Canarias, Tenebris Contracultura, and the Cine + Cómics Foundation, this event is set to invigorate the streets of Aguere throughout November.
