La Gomera has participated in the Allt för Hälsan tourism fair, held from November 8 to 10 in Stockholm. This event allowed the island to showcase its offerings as a destination dedicated to health and well-being, recognised as one of the most significant in this sector across the Nordic countries.
The island’s Minister of Tourism, María Isabel Méndez, highlighted that this event is an excellent opportunity to display the diverse activities that La Gomera provides, ranging from spiritual retreats to experiences associated with hiking and yoga practice, while also promoting the island’s rich culture and gastronomy.
Consequently, the island is positioned as a destination that seamlessly combines wellness tourism with outdoor physical activities in close interaction with nature, all while offering areas for relaxation and peace.
It is also promoted as a destination where local gastronomy shines, emphasising the use of local produce. Dishes and products are authentically prepared, exemplifying the culinary heritage of La Gomera, where the focus is on zero-kilometre and sustainably sourced ingredients, aligning with the escalating Nordic and global demand for genuine and healthy experiences.
The natural attributes of La Gomera are among the features most appreciated by Nordic visitors, further enhanced by its potential as a renowned hiking destination within the celebrated Garajonay National Park, which is also designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Stockholm-Arlanda airport maintains consistent connectivity with Tenerife South and Gran Canaria, served by both scheduled and charter flights. Three leading Swedish tour operators – Ving, Tui Sverige and Apollo Sverige – have included La Gomera in their itineraries for winter 2024-2025. Additionally, various theme-specific tour operators, primarily focused on hiking, have organised group trips to the island.
