“His Purpose: Bringing Joy Through Laughter”

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 25th November (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Vice President of the Government of the Canary Islands and leader of the PP in the islands, Manuel Domínguez, described the letter sent by the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, to the president of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, regarding the migration crisis in the Canary Islands as “ridiculous and shameful” this Monday.

“He did it to mock everyone,” he stated during an interview with ‘Canarias Radio La Autonómica’, as reported by Europa Press, in which he expressed his “frustration” and “anger” over the apparent lack of detail in the measures needed by the archipelago.

Domínguez asserted that in the correspondence, the minister implies to the Commission president that “there is no need” for her to turn her attention to Spain, claiming that “everything is being managed well” and that no assistance is required.

“There is no mention of Frontex, no mention of aid to address the excess of political asylum seekers, no reference to the funds allocated for the Canary Islands that have yet to be requested by Spain, and no discussion on the return of unaccompanied minors to third countries. There is also no talk about the possibility of redistribution to transit countries or nations of origin,” he emphasised.

Nevertheless, he affirmed that the PP “is committed to living up to what the Canary Islands and its citizens deserve,” and has personally pledged to put “everything on the table” to demonstrate that the Canary Islands require support.

Domínguez lamented that he was “correct” in his assertion that the “Government of Spain is not interested in a resolution” but insisted that the PP “will persist in their efforts.”
