SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Nov. 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –
On Wednesday, the Cabildo of Tenerife declared that the two outbreaks of fire in the Tágara area, located within the municipality of Guía de Isora and adjacent to Adeje, were under control.
One outbreak was situated in the Tágara pine forest, while the other was located below Teresme Mountain.
The total area affected encompassed 0.3 hectares of pine woodland, translating to approximately 3,000 square metres in Guía de Isora and 150 square metres in Adeje. Both fires were ignited as a result of lightning strikes attributable to the storm impacting the island.
The Forestry Brigades (Brifor) of the Cabildo commenced operations shortly after the alarm was raised at around 3:00 p.m., targeting a site that was challenging to reach. They utilised a helicopter from the Cabildo alongside two GES helicopters from the Government of the Canary Islands (from Tenerife and La Gomera), as well as four fire engines – three light and one heavy – in addition to a high tactical mobility vehicle (Vamtac) as part of the Brifor initiative.
In total, the response team comprised approximately 20 individuals, including personnel from the Brifor operations (technicians, agents, and brigade members) alongside members of Teide National Park who contributed to the firefighting efforts, as reported by the Cabildo in a statement.
