Fleeing Driver Turns Himself In After Leaving Young Woman in Critical Condition

The individual who reportedly struck a 23-year-old girl on Monday near the Guajara Campus in La Laguna, who is currently in critical condition, surrendered to the authorities on Tuesday morning.

The incident took place on Monday at approximately 11:00 am, on César Manrique Avenue.

Javier López, the sub-inspector of the Local Police, informed the press that the man, who was brought to the police station by a relative, voluntarily surrendered and has been taken into custody, although sources from the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands have indicated that he is not expected to appear before the judge this Wednesday.

The arrested man is 32 years old, originally from San Miguel de Abona, but currently resides in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. He fled the scene after the incident, leaving a companion behind.

As a result, the Local Police of La Laguna initiated an investigation, and with the assistance of the Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the vehicle was found a few hours later in the Cuesta Piedra neighbourhood.

The car has been confiscated, and the Scientific Police of the National Police have taken fingerprints and collected evidence for identification purposes.
