Experience the Revamped Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival Celebration!

The port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will be the venue for the Carnival Attractions Fair of Tenerife’s capital in 2025, specifically located on the esplanade of the Los Llanos Dock, an area that has recently hosted numerous concerts. This arrangement was agreed upon by the Santa Cruz City Council and the capital’s port, with the decision being presented at a press conference today.

This new venue, situated closer to the heart of the Carnival festivities, will feature two access walkways and encompass 26,000 square metres, which will be allocated into three distinct sections for the placement of 72 stalls: a children’s section, a space dedicated to adult attractions, and an area for gastronomy.

The presentation ceremony, held this morning in the Junta del Puerto building, was attended by Pedro Suárez, president of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife; the mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez; the city’s Fiestas councillor, Javier Rivero; and Carlos Crespo, head of the Presidency Cabinet Division of the port entity.

The mayor expressed gratitude to the Port Authority president for his readiness to collaborate with the initiatives of the City Council, stating that “it is a positive development for the Carnival to have the fair closer to the traditional celebration area. It is a great achievement that everything is well laid out and organised in the same location.” For Bermúdez, hosting this event signifies a mutual benefit for both the city and the Carnival itself.

Pedro Suárez remarked that “this is a new initiative aimed at bridging the port with the city and represents another step in the collaboration between the City Council and the port of Santa Cruz.” He further emphasised that “relocating the fair to the core of the Carnival creates a unified space while also addressing a mobility issue since Constitution Avenue will not be as frequently closed.”

According to Javier Caraballo, “this plan we now have enhances the conditions of the fair, considering that previously there was a road dividing the area that needed to be closed for citizens to cross and access part of the attractions,” adding that “the city will benefit from additional parking spaces with this proposal, as the lower section of Constitution road was fully utilised for the children’s fair. That area will now be available for parking.”

Carlos Crespo noted that “the event will not disrupt the port’s service road or access to the boarding area for inter-island traffic. We are currently devising a method to install various vehicle access filters to the port during the fair, as, initially, access will only be available on foot.”
