Elevator Installation Project for 11 Blocks in Princesa Yballa and La Florida

The Municipal Housing and Services Company (Muvisa) of La Laguna has commenced the review of the applications submitted for the rehabilitation of 11 blocks located in the urbanisations of Princesa Yballa and La Florida, in La Cuesta. This initiative entails an investment of €1,882,010.66 and aims to install lifts in these buildings, which were developed several decades ago and are now wholly privately owned. Additionally, the project will enhance roofs, façades, surroundings and communal facilities, thereby improving the accessibility and habitability of approximately one hundred homes, as per the latest information from the town hall.

These renovations are part of phase 3 of the Urban Regeneration and Renewal Area (ARRU) Princesa Yballa – La Florida. This programme has already seen work completed on 9 blocks, with an investment surpassing €2.8 million. The current phase, which is included in the State Housing Plan and is in accordance with the agreements made by the respective community of neighbours, entails a further tender for an additional block in Princesa Yballa, for which the tender process has been left open, the officials noted.

Muvisa CEO Juan Ignacio Viciana stated, “Once the contracts are awarded and finalised, the works will last for 9 months. This comprehensive rehabilitation will cover blocks 6, 12, and 19, as well as blocks 22 to 25 and 28 to 30, all situated in Princesa Yballa, incorporating block 8 of La Florida.”

“Aside from adding lifts, which these developments previously lacked, and removing architectural barriers in their vicinity, the projects will bring about considerable enhancements in waterproofing and energy efficiency of these buildings. The works will encompass roofing, façades, surroundings, and the upgrading of communal facilities and connections to homes for electricity, plumbing, telecommunications, and other services,” added Viciana.

The Councillor for Housing and President of Muvisa, Adolfo Cordobés, highlighted, “The works undertaken over the past decade, alongside those planned from this year through to 2027, signify an investment exceeding €55 million for the municipality, positively affecting more than 3,500 homes.”

For the upcoming year 2024, Muvisa aims to complete and initiate new phases within the municipality’s 5 ARRUs, with a projected value of over €9.5 million.
