SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 2nd December (EUROPA PRESS) –
The vice president of the Government of the Canary Islands and leader of the PP in the islands, Manuel Domínguez, confirmed this Monday that his party will “adhere” and will participate in the immigration meeting scheduled for this Thursday involving both the central and Canary governments.
Nevertheless, he specified to journalists that he hopes the PSOE will also “fulfil” its obligations and explicitly, tacitly and clearly request assistance from the EU for the archipelago, as has been urged by the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and vice president, Margaritas Schinas.
In this regard, he has called upon the Secretary of Organisation of the Canarian Socialists, Nira Fierro, to “complete her tasks” and “persuade” the Government of Spain that it is essential to ask the European Union to implement Frontex, the promised economic support for the Canary Islands, the establishment of a political asylum office for unaccompanied minors from Mali, and for these minors to be relocated to member states of the European Union.
