The Orotava once again becomes the hub of commercial and culinary activity to invigorate the town. The upper section of Constitution Square will host a new event this Friday, the 4th, from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and on Saturday, the 5th, between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. This event, named DiverFest, combines local cuisine and music and is tied to the longstanding initiative DiverSaldo, a hallmark in both the municipality and the northern region of the island. DiverSaldo will occur this year on Saturday, October 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
At DiverFest, fifteen local businesses will be represented, including restaurants, cafes, wineries, and confectioneries. They will set up stalls in the upper part of the quadrilateral, showcasing craft beers, wines, sweets, tapas, and an array of traditional and inventive dishes. Both days will feature live performances and ambient music.
DiverSaldo, the largest Clearance Fair in Northern Tenerife, will unfold this Saturday across various streets in the town centre like Calvario, Carrera Escultor Estévez, El Puente, Avenida de Canarias, and Plaza de la Constitución. This year, local merchants have chosen to shift the celebration from its usual Sunday to Saturday. Approximately 70 local businesses will participate, offering out-of-season goods and clearing out inventory.
Shoppers can discover a vast range of products at discounted prices, including confectionery, second-hand vehicles and homes, textiles, hardware, accessories, imitation jewellery, sports goods, gifts, decorative items, pet supplies, stationery, computing equipment, fishing gear, handcrafted items, electronics, household appliances, footwear, toys, watches, jewellery, equipment, flowers, and plants, among many more.
The La Orotava Balance Fair was a trailblazer in Tenerife, merging entertainment with the sale of products at low prices. Business participation is entirely free, as the city council aims to lend maximum support to local shops and enterprises, encouraging their engagement in this successful annual event. It promises to be a lively day filled with atmosphere and various complementary recreational activities. There will be workshops and games for children, alongside activities for adults like a Body Balance masterclass on October 5 at 11:30 a.m., and Zumba classes led by Wilcar Torres at 12:30 p.m. DJ Chagui will take to the decks, and Ni un Pelo de Tonto is set to perform a special act on Saturday, the 5th, at 8:00 p.m.
Residents planning to visit the urban centre on October 4 and 5 can indulge in both events while appreciating the municipality’s historical and artistic heritage, as well as its rich local gastronomy.
