Climbing Teide Poses Serious Risks: Dávila Urges Caution and Responsibility

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 18 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, cautioned this Monday about the “serious risk” associated with ascending the peak of Teide at this time, given the adverse weather conditions and the fact that the cable car is currently out of service.

In a statement issued by the council, she urged for “responsibility and common sense to prevent perilous and unnecessary situations that jeopardise not only the lives of those attempting the ascent” but also the safety of the rescue teams.

Dávila has emphasised that reaching the summit is ill-advised at present, expressing concern that rescue teams have had to be mobilised repeatedly since last Saturday due to these “reckless actions,” with a total of 130 individuals who have attempted the climb inappropriately.
