The Local Police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife has warned residents via its official X (Twitter) account about a potential scam concerning cards left on parked cars.
These cards, which are designed in red and white, display a “vehicle in violation” notice stating that the vehicle is parked incorrectly.
The deceptive document contains a QR code that encourages individuals to scan it to “view your fine.” However, officials have clarified that this type of card is not legitimate and should not be recognised under any circumstances as it could be a scam aimed at acquiring personal or financial information.
The Local Police advises the public to disregard such documents and avoid interacting with the QR codes provided.
If there are any doubts, they encourage individuals to contact municipal services directly to confirm the legitimacy of any purported traffic violations.
