SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Maritime Rescue has intercepted another canoe in the early hours of this Sunday, marking the twenty-fifth since Friday evening in the Canary Islands, which was navigating waters near Tenerife with around 60 passengers on board.

As per the state agency, the Civil Guard alerted at 12:25 p.m. regarding an irregular vessel located about eleven miles from Punta Rasca, prompting the mobilisation of the Salvamar Alpheratz.

The maritime unit successfully located the canoe and escorted it to the Los Cristianos Dock, where an official tally of its occupants will take place.

In total, around 1,477 migrants have reached the Canary Islands across 25 irregular boats since Friday evening up until the middle of this Sunday – seven to El Hierro, one to Tenerife, three to Fuerteventura, and 14 to Lanzarote, according to statistics from Maritime Rescue, Red Cross, and 112 Canary Islands as compiled by Europa Press.
