SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Nov. 1 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands, via the Vice-Ministry of Infrastructure, has finalised the award of the administrative services contract for the formulation of the Sustainable and Intelligent Mobility Strategy of the Canary Islands (EMSICAN), with a total value of 507,180.00 euros, to the consortium of companies comprising Consultora ALOMÓN, CPR Infraestructuras, Movilidad y Medio Ambiente, SL and Consultora DOYMO, SA.
The implementation of the Sustainable and Intelligent Mobility Strategy of the Canary Islands, which is set to unfold over the next 24 months, is founded upon the principles of participation, transparency, and assessability as outlined in the General Guidelines ratified by the Government Council of the Canary Islands on January 29, 2024. Consequently, the contracting will be governed by various participatory methods, assessments concerning environmental impact, public information dissemination, and consultations with affected public bodies and interested parties.
The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Francis González, emphasised in a statement that the EMSICAN document is essential for the Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Mobility.
In this context, he asserted that “it will facilitate the definition of the mobility policy of the Government of the Canary Islands for the next three decades, taking into consideration the geographical-tricontinental, territorial, environmental, social, and economic realities, along with the status of the Outermost Region of the European Union, as stipulated in article 349 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union”.
He proposed that “the future of the Canary Islands necessitates a mobility policy that incorporates the involvement of all citizens, various involved sectors, public-private partnerships, and achieves the sustainability of environmental factors, ensuring intelligent and secure connectivity as well as the preservation of our distinctive identity”.
