SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 8 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands is set to present the public employment offer (OPE) for 2024 to the unions this Friday, totalling 1,004 positions. This was revealed by the general director of Personnel and Teacher Training, Mónica Ramírez Barbosa, who will participate in a technical panel throughout the day alongside representatives from various union organisations.
The proposed 1,004 positions are based on 837 vacancies, following the deduction of 90 new appointments from a total of 927 departures, which include retirements and fatalities. Additionally, the offer allows for an inclusion of twenty per cent as permitted by the Budget Law. These positions will be allocated across several educational bodies, including four for Education Inspectors, 483 for Secondary School Teachers, six for Official Language School teachers, 18 for Specialists in Singular Sectors of Vocational Training, eight for Plastic Arts and Design Teachers, four for Plastic Arts and Design Workshop Teachers, and 481 for general Teachers.
Furthermore, these positions will be added to the 1,587 already sanctioned in the 2022 and 2023 offers, which have experienced delays in execution due to the recent initiation and implementation of stabilization processes, totalling 2,591 opportunities.
“Considering that the maximum execution period for an OPE is three years, the total number of positions across these three offers – 2022, 2023, and 2024 – will need to be distributed in forthcoming calls,” noted Ramírez, who also indicated that work will commence in conjunction with the unions to analyse and plan according to identified needs.
In terms of the upcoming selective processes for next year, the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports proposes the initiation of opposition calls for the roles of Teachers, Secondary School educators, and others, including Specialists in Singular Sectors of Vocational Training.
OPEN PROCESS BY 2025
In this respect, she stated, “we will also initiate discussions concerning the number of positions to be included in the 2025 call.
