SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 10 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The ‘Young Business Talents’ educational programme has commenced its registration period for young Canarians aspiring to compete for the title of ‘best virtual entrepreneurs in the nation’ in the fourteenth edition of the national business simulation contest, organised by ABANCA, ESIC University, Herbalife, and Praxis MMT.
Young individuals with entrepreneurial spirit, along with any educational institution in the Canary Islands and across Spain, will have until 31 October to register their teams of students – from 4th year of ESO, Baccalaureate or intermediate or higher-level training cycles, aged between 15 and 21 – keen on participating in this innovative and unique educational experience via the ‘Young Business Talents’ website.
Over 10,000 euros in prizes will be awarded among the top teams, for both students and educators, along with certificates that will aid in enhancing their professional prospects.
“This educational initiative provides thousands of young people across Spain with the chance to experience business management first-hand by becoming authentic executives. Students engage with economics and business administration interactively, while developing management and leadership skills. It also benefits educators, as they can incorporate a fun learning tool into their classrooms, merging theory with practice,” explains Mario Martínez, director of ‘Young Business Talents’.
Consequently, the participating youths will need to manage their own virtual enterprise using a sophisticated business management simulator.
Students will learn the same practices executed in actual companies, such as analysing, planning, executing, and monitoring.
This year, they will operate a company dedicated to personal care, marketing creams and sunscreens, while making optimal decisions in the realms of marketing, sales, operations, production, human resources, and finance, to ensure their company realises maximum economic gains.
“For participation, educational centres receive complimentary business management simulators, which are identical to those used in universities, business schools, and leading companies, valued at over 3,000 euros. This innovative educational tool, developed by Praxis MMT, enables the practical application of numerous theoretical concepts studied in class, and the heightened motivation and engagement of the students enhances their retention of the content. Thus, it presents an opportunity from which students, educators, and educational centres can all benefit, making their classes more engaging,” says the director of ‘Young Business Talents’.
The competition will commence in November and continue until April, concluding with the final event in Madrid where the ‘best virtual entrepreneurs in Spain’ will be announced.
176 PARTICIPANTS FROM THE ISLANDS IN THE LAST EDITION
Until that point, the contestants will initially compete online from their classrooms and go through various elimination stages. The teams that generate the most substantial business profit will qualify for the national final.
In the previous edition, a total of 176 pre-university students from eight educational centres in the Canary Islands participated, competing against 11,441 students from 426 educational institutions throughout Spain.
The province of Las Palmas saw the participation of 143 students and Santa Cruz de Tenerife contributed 33.
Ultimately, three students from the 4th year of ESO at IES Corbera de Llobregat in Barcelona emerged victorious, being named winners of the 13th edition of ‘Young Business Talents’.
