Call for Action: Protect Tenerife’s Most Popular Beach from Vandalism Damage

The Arona Town Hall has expressed its condemnation on Thursday, December 5, of the vandalism recently reported in the vicinity of the Arts Shopping Centre, situated in Playa de Las Américas, as well as on the beaches of Las Vistas and El Camisón. These occurrences have inflicted considerable damage to the municipality’s heritage.

The mayor, Fatima Lemes, has underscored the significance of upholding civility and respect for communal assets. “We stand firmly against all forms of vandalism and the lack of civility displayed by certain individuals who assault the heritage of Arona, inflicting serious harm on both residents and visitors,” she remarked in a statement reminding that such actions are punishable under current regulations.

Lemes has highlighted that, while the majority of Arona’s populace is devoted to safeguarding the environment, there are invariably exceptions that detract from the community. Additionally, she stressed the importance of citizen cooperation in identifying those accountable for such damage and enhancing the protection of local heritage.

The City Council has once again urged respect for public furnishings, green spaces, playgrounds, rubbish bins, containers, and other features that contribute to the character of the municipality. These facilities, vital for harmonious living and quality of life, represent a collective endeavour to ensure Arona remains a welcoming and well-maintained destination.
